Dive into Mr Matsomoto, a Japanese inspired lager with Australian roots. As Australia’s fascination with Japan continues to grow, Matso’s has unveiled its latest release: Mr Matsomoto Japanese Style Lager - a lager that bridges cultures and honours history. The story of Matso’s began in the heart of Broome, hailed as the pearling capital of the world. Back in the 1950’s, our iconic store was a local staple and cornerstone of the community. Fast forward to 1997, it was time to swap stock shelves for beer taps, and we’ve been keeping locals refreshed and visitors curious ever since. Mr Matsomoto is a Japanese Style Lager born from Matso’s origin story and the incredible Matsumoto family who owned Matso’s General store for over 50 years. They were pioneers in Broome’s pearl diving industry and helped build the very fabric of the town.
The packaging puts the pearl diving helmet front and center, whilst the wordmark is a replication of the original hand painted Matso’s general store sign which was created by the Matsomoto family. The gold and black colour palette sits at home with Japanese Lagers and the background texture on the label uses topography lines of Broome.
